Tutor Students in an Afterschool Program

About this Opportunity

Invest in the lives of children in the afterschool tutoring program by supporting them academically. Be the encouragement and spark that builds confidence and academic skills!

Our opportunities are Monday through Thursday with sessions at 4-5PM and 5-6PM.

Volunteer role:

  • We ask that tutors commit to a minimum of a one-hour long session each week, arrive shortly before their students, and let us know when unavailable.
  • During tutoring, support is provided for any questions that arise. Training, curriculum, and insight into student needs are provided.

Benefits to volunteer:

  • This is a valuable experience that pushes tutors to expand themselves, understand the needs and goals of our students, and continuously look for ways to affirm and build up our students.

Skills and qualifications:

  • The most effective tutors will bring energy and flexibility to each tutoring opportunity. People with a desire to expand their cultural competencies are a great fit for our programs.

Requirements:

  • Interviews, background checks, and on-site dress code are required.
  • We do not take middle school students - only as young as HS freshmen - even if they have already turned 14.
