Provide Academic Support to Youth in Harlem

About this Opportunity

StreetSquash’s mission is to provide consistent, long-term, and reliable support to the children, families, and schools in Harlem. By exposing students to a broad range of experiences and by maintaining the highest standards, StreetSquash helps all participants realize their academic, athletic, and personal potential.

Are you motivated, high energy, patient, and committed to making a difference in the lives of young people? Then StreetSquash is the place for you! From the squash court to the classroom, we are excited to welcome you to our program!

Provide tutoring/academic support and help students from 5th-12th grade in a variety of subjects. Math tutors are especially needed.

  • With guidance from our Academic team, you'll provide one-on-one support to the same student each week to close learning gaps in specific subject areas.
  • We are looking for tutors in the following areas:
    • Math (4th - 6th Grade)
    • Math (7th - 8th Grade)
    • Geometry
    • Algebra I & Algebra II
    • Pre-Calculus & Calculus
    • Trigonometry
    • SAT Prep & ACT Prep
    • Biology
    • Chemistry
    • Physics
    • French
    • Spanish
    • English and Language Arts
    • Reading and Comprehension
    • Global Studies

Available tutoring sessions:

Mon-Fri

3:30pm-4:30pm

4:30pm-5:30pm

5:30pm-6:30pm

6:30pm-7:30pm

Saturday

11:30am-12:30pm

12:30pm-1:30pm

1:30pm-2:30pm

Commitment and Expectations:

  • Volunteers commit to serving the same day/time each week for the duration of the school years.
  • Through tutoring, volunteers build relationships with the students they tutor and provide consistency week in and week out.
  • Our tutors will always work with the same student(s) each week.
