About this Opportunity
|The Pathways Mentoring Program provides one-on-one mentors for middle and high school students in an interactive partnership with the Inwood Academy for Leadership. The target population is predominantly low-income Hispanic youth, mostly from first generation immigrant families, from the neighborhoods of Washington Heights, Inwood and the northeast Bronx.|
Mentors are asked to commit to serve for one school year (Sept-June). The program meets once a week in the morning before school from 7:15 to 8:30 a.m. In addition, mentors engage in activities with their mentees at least every other month. There is a Fall and Spring gathering of mentors, mentees, and parents as well.
Volunteers will be asked to complete an application and submit references, have an in-person interview, a background check, and training. Volunteers must be 18 years or older to serve.
Currently the deadline for applying has passed. Potential new volunteers will be on a waitlist and considered for April 2020.
