Mentor Students from Inwood Academy

About this Opportunity
The Pathways Mentoring Program provides one-on-one mentors for middle and high school students in an interactive partnership with the Inwood Academy for Leadership. The target population is predominantly low-income Hispanic youth, mostly from first generation immigrant families, from the neighborhoods of Washington Heights, Inwood and the northeast Bronx.

Mentors are asked to commit to serve for one school year (Sept-June). The program meets once a week in the morning before school from 7:15 to 8:30 a.m. In addition, mentors engage in activities with their mentees at least every other month. There is a Fall and Spring gathering of mentors, mentees, and parents as well.

Volunteers will be asked to complete an application and submit references, have an in-person interview, a background check, and training. Volunteers must be 18 years or older to serve.

Currently the deadline for applying has passed. Potential new volunteers will be on a waitlist and considered for April 2020.
