Every week, we will share short updates from our affiliates who are still serving vulnerable and marginalized populations across New York City. Our affiliates will tell us how COVID-19 has impacted their programs and services, and how they're still remaining hopeful about God continuing to work in our city.

The Bowery Mission


The Bowery Mission reports that they are serving nearly twice as many people as they usually do—not only to those without a home, but to those who are newly unemployed because of the COVID-19 crisis. Interim CEO James Winans explains how The Bowery Mission is continuing to meet this increased need.

 

 


Restore NYC


Restore NYC tells us that many of the women they serve are dealing with job loss and financial vulnerability as a result of COVID-19, which can put them at risk for re-trafficking. Courtney Contreras, who works as a Counselor Advocate, shares more about how they are working to support survivors at this time.

 

 


Open Hands Legal Services


Open Hands Legal Services says that COVID-19 has widened the “access to justice” gap. As courts close or are open only to emergency cases, many clients with urgent legal needs are facing significant challenges. Legal Director Nicole Stewart explains how Open Hands is continuing to advocate for clients.
