Serve Youth at Basketball Camp in Brooklyn

About this Opportunity

Prison Fellowship Angel Tree Sports Camps™ shows children of incarcerated parents how much they can overcome—on the field and in life.

At this basketball camp, youth will gather to play basketball, experience coaching, and more. In-person volunteers are needed from on Saturday, June 29 from 7:30am-1 pm at 1561 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11225.

Volunteer roles include:

Registration team (great for those gifted in administration who also enjoy interacting with participants):

  • Check-in participants.
  • Assign them to teams.
  • Hand out bracelets and T-shirts to participants.
  • Fills and organizes swag bags to hand out to kids.

Caregiver Ministry team (great for anyone that has the gift of evangelism or loves to pray for people face to face).

  • Listen, talk and pray with caregivers throughout the camp.
  • Facilitate caregiver breakout sessions.
  • Communicate with caregivers on how they can connect with the local church.

Small Group team (great for anyone that serves within youth or kids ministry)

  • Each small group leader shepherds a small group of kids from start to finish of camp.
  • Maintain the order during the activity. portion of camp.
  • Lead small group discussions.
  • Accompany groups of children to restroom, hand out waters, serve box lunches to all participants.

Volunteers must complete an application, pass a background check, and attend event training in order to serve.
