Hope for New York

Children who spend time in foster care often face serious challenges—teen pregnancy, homelessness, incarceration—later in life. Let us come to the Father on behalf of these children and their families knowing that our God is a Father to the fatherless and a protector of widows. We invite you to pray with us.

We seek to be a people who serve our poor and marginalized neighbors in both word and deed. We put feet to our faith as we tangibly serve our neighbors, and we also go to the Father on their behalf, presenting their needs to Him in prayer. Won't you join us in praying for our hungry neighbors this season?

Adrienne Heller is a veteran His Toy Store volunteer—so we asked her to share with us what she's learned from serving, why she keeps coming back, and how she's seen God moving in and through this annual Christmas outreach to our neighbors in need across the city.

For the month of October, we’ll be praying for those New Yorkers who are battling with or recovering from addiction. Below are some jumping off points to guide your prayers. Won’t you join us in lifting up these neighbors of ours?

More than one million New Yorkers struggle with substance use problems, and New York City has among the highest number of people using illicit drugs in the United States. But there is hope, thanks to partners like Brooklyn Teen Challenge who commit to walking alongside our neighbors battling addiction.

Living in the most populated city in the United States alongside 8.5 million people brings with it a unique set of challenges. This is especially true for children and youth who grow up calling this place home. Find out about some of the struggles our New York City children face each and every day.

HFNY Staff Whitney Edge (pictured on far left) had never ridden more than 15 miles before she rode in the HFNY Charity Bike Ride. Not only did she finish the 25-mile route… but she had a great time while doing it! Here are 5 things she learned.

This past fiscal year (which ended in June 2016) has been one for the books at Hope for New York. Because of the generosity of our donors, we were able to give more than $1.7 million in financial support to our non-profit affiliates — more than we’ve ever given in our 25-year history.

We’re excited to welcome Safe Families for Children to our affiliate family! Safe Families works with local churches to ensure that at-risk families receive the help they need to keep their children out of foster care. We are confident in their mission and dedication to bringing hope to families in crisis in our city and we rejoice that they are finally coming to New York!

Join us in welcoming Do for One to our affiliate family! Do for One pairs volunteers with New Yorkers living with disabilities in order to facilitate genuine connection and friendship. We asked Director Andrew Oliver to answer a few questions about his involvement with Do for One, his passion for people with disabilities, and his hope for the future of this organization.
