Hope for New York

Max is a high schooler in the South Bronx. He grew up feeling overwhelmed by the negativity in his neighborhood. But last summer, Max went to Mont Lawn Camp in Pennsylvania, and God worked through his counselors to help him see his relationship with Jesus in a new way—and that has changed his life.

While we’ve distributed direct grants to our affiliates every year since 1994 (last year, we gave over $1.7 million), this year is the first year we’re offering a bonus grant to an affiliate selected by our Community Grants Circle (CGC).

The U.S. comprises five percent of the world’s population, but 25 percent of its prisoners. Upon returning home, formerly incarcerated people often struggle with substance abuse, lack of education and employment skills, limited housing options, and mental health issues. Let's pray for these neighbors of ours.

Hope for New York volunteers are constantly thinking through how they can best serve their neighbors in need as a response to the grace shown by Jesus. Let these stories inspire you to pray through how God might want to use you to bring greater flourishing to this city.

Caroline Anderson, who works in the cosmetic industry, had reservations about her ability to serve on our Community Grants Circle, a collective of people who participate and advise in our grant-making process. But God has used her in ways she couldn’t herself imagine.

When Greg Hockenbrocht wanted to go deeper in the mission to spread mercy and justice throughout NYC, he joined our Community Grants Circle, a collective of people who participate and advise in our grant-making process. Here’s a bit about what he’s experienced since then.

We long to see a movement of Christians committed to serving their neighbors in need. That’s why we’re excited to announce three new church partners: Hope Church Midtown, Redeemer Lincoln Square, and Renaissance Church. Hear from their lead pastors about why they’re excited to partner with HFNY!

As New Yorkers, we do it every day. We see a homeless person on the street, huddled up in a sleeping bag or makeshift blankets, their few belongings littered around them...and we keep walking. What if we stopped?

Children who spend time in foster care often face serious challenges—teen pregnancy, homelessness, incarceration—later in life. Let us come to the Father on behalf of these children and their families knowing that our God is a Father to the fatherless and a protector of widows. We invite you to pray with us.

We seek to be a people who serve our poor and marginalized neighbors in both word and deed. We put feet to our faith as we tangibly serve our neighbors, and we also go to the Father on their behalf, presenting their needs to Him in prayer.
