Join a team that helps immigrant parents learn about healthy eating in a friendly, hands-on environment.
Volunteers play a vital role in creating a welcoming atmosphere, assisting the instructor, and encouraging participant engagement throughout each class.
Key Responsibilities:
-Set up the classroom before each session and clean up afterward
-Greet and welcome participants as they arrive
-Take attendance and help distribute materials
-Sit with small groups to assist with activities and discussions
-Support the instructor during the cooking portion of the class
-Adhere to the SACC dress code (No shorts. Pants, capris or knee-length or longer dresses are fine. No tank tops, spaghetti straps, see-through or tight-fitting clothes, visible bra straps or leggings with oversized t-shirts. Casual attire is fine.)
Qualifications:
-Friendly, reliable, and punctual
-Patient and culturally sensitive
-Comfortable engaging with diverse groups
-No prior nutrition experience required — just enthusiasm and a supportive attitude
-Background check required
Time Commitment:
-Once a week for 8 weeks beginning in late October. Each session includes setup, workshop time, and cleanup (approximately 2.5 hours total per week).
