You have the opportunity to assist in tutoring phonics to children in Pre-K through 3rd grade in small group settings. Volunteers will assist an experienced teacher or work with individual children on letter sounds and literacy activities, such as flashcards, coloring, reading, sounding out letters, or playing literacy-focused games. The literacy program is in a community center in West Harlem. We will provide all the material. At lunch time, there will be a time for fellowship with the teacher and students as they eat lunch.
