About this Opportunity
StreetSquash’s six-week Summer Discovery program offers rising 5th through 8th graders in Harlem an exciting summer experience. Participants explore the sport of squash, receive swim instruction, engage in academic enrichment, and take part in college and career exploration.
Volunteer Dates: July 7 - August 15
Volunteer Days/Times: Monday - Thursday 9am to 4pm
Volunteer Commitment: Volunteers can choose their commitment, whether one day a week, two days a week, every day for one week, etc.
Volunteer Requirements:
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Must provide updated resume.
- Must provide updated physical from their primary care doctor (dated on or after Aug. 15, 2024).
- Must be willing to undergo a background check.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Academic Tutoring
- 10:00am-11:30am - Middle School Math or English Tutoring
- 1:00pm-2:30pm - Elementary School Math or English Tutoring
Squash Assistant
- 10:00am-11:30am - Beginner/Intermediate Squash Assistant*
- 11:30am-1:00pm - Advanced Squash Assistant*
- 1:00pm-2:30pm - Beginner/Intermediate Squash Assistant*
- *Beginner/Intermediate Squash Assistant volunteers have US Squash Ratings less than 3.0. Advanced Squash Assistant volunteers have US Squash Ratings greater than 3.0
Outdoor Activity Volunteer
- 2:30pm-4:00pm - Outdoor Activities (Involves chaperoning kids to and from lunch, swimming lessons, and/or local parks)
This is a great opportunity for teen volunteers aged 16 and up to serve independently.
