About this Opportunity
The Open Door empowers immigrants to reach their full God-given potential to successfully integrate, participate and contribute to the well-being of our society.
Make a difference in the lives of immigrant children by teaching in-person Bible lessons weekly in East Harlem. Volunteers serve once a week on Monday or Tuesday evenings from 7 to 8:30 pm.
Volunteers will create a safe, fun space for young children to learn about God through Bible stories and crafts. These children learn about God while their parents, who are enrolled as ESL students at The Open Door, learn right down the hall.
- While their parents put in the extra effort to learn the English language, young children have already quickly adapted to U.S. culture and language at school.
- As a teacher, you’ll walk alongside the children at a unique point in their lives as they juggle biculturalism and bilingualism.
- You'll help make an impact on impressionable, little hearts by teaching them about the love of God for them, all while strengthening the familia we have at The Open Door.
No Spanish language required.
