Prayers of the People: 'The Hope You Provide Us'

On Palm Sunday, join Mary Beth, our Senior Manager of Volunteer Mobilization, in this Prayers of the People to highlight the hope that our fellow New Yorkers need.
Father in Heaven,
Thank you, for the eternal hope that you provide us through your Son, Jesus. This season we remember the sacrifice of our Savior, and we worship you in gratitude. Thank you, Father, for the hope of salvation and the joy it produces deep in our souls. You are the God who has made each of us, you are the King of Mercy, you are the only one who is truly just. You are the only one we can bring our prayers to.
God, the brokenness in our city feels overwhelming and unbearable. We know you see it, we know you see us. Be near, Lord. Our hearts ache for healing and restoration. Work in our souls Lord, and let us experience your peace as we wait expectantly for you to redeem and restore what has been broken.
We specifically pray for our neighbors on the margins. We pray for the mothers who feel alone and who need support. We pray for those experiencing homelessness and hunger. We lift up the immigrants seeking safety, belonging, and a new start. We pray for families and youth who are in need of a relationship with their heavenly Father. Lord, you love them all more than we can imagine. Let us be a church that sees your people the way you see them. Give us hearts of generosity, compassion, and grace for our neighbors in need. We pray especially for the organizations serving these individuals each day.
Lord, we can extend grace to our neighbors because of the love you poured out on us. We have patience, love, and gentleness, because you first demonstrated those things to us.
Thank you, God, for each of the hearts you have formed. Lead each of us, today, one step forward, toward our neighbors in need, knowing you go before us. We ask these things for your glory and our good. We love you, we praise you.
Amen.
