Our first Virtual Homelessness Summit was an impactful day focused on the challenges our homeless neighbors face daily. More than 300 attendees tuned into the online Rescue Alliance event on a Saturday morning to be educated, equipped, and engaged!
While I could tell you all about the logistics of Don't Walk By or the amazing stories of changed lives to tug on the heartstrings, I’m going to share instead why you should sign up to serve again or even for the first time.
The weather changed. One day it was 50 degrees and the next it was 26. I’m no mathematician, but I believe that’s a 24 degree drop. 24 degrees in 24 hours. In my family, it meant jumping from sweatshirts to heavy jackets.
The blessing of God is not found in exacting obedience to the law, but rather through faith in Christ. The gospel does, however, produce radical obedience as we, in faith, understand the blessing of Christ and experience a transformation of heart.
As we strive to love the Lord, are we endeavoring to love our neighbors and advantage the disadvantaged, or do we separate our love of God from our love of neighbor? May we turn our hearts toward Christ for the ultimate example of what this looks like.
