About:
Safe Families NYC aims to support and stabilize isolated families facing crisis by providing mentoring and referrals to appropriate resources and to deflect children from entering the child welfare system by keeping healthy families intact. Safe Families engages a Circle of Support that surrounds families in crisis until they can get back on their feet. This circle consists of volunteers who serve as family friends (who provide mentoring and emotional support to parents and/or children until they are able to get back on their feet), family coaches (who assist parents in reaching their goals), resource friends (who provide goods or services to help families through their crisis), and community resources (like treatment centers, shelters, public aid, and churches).
Mission
Safe Families for Children creates extended family-like support for isolated and overwhelmed families through a community of devoted volunteers motivated by compassion to keep children safe and together with their parents.

The Safe Families movement is 85% volunteer-driven. Volunteers are crucial to the success of Safe Families. Safe Families staff supports volunteers as they connect with families.
Making Grants To Fund Programs
Our grant dollars support the successful launch of Safe Families into NYC including staff support and other administration costs necessary for the successful intake of children in need.
