Have an idea for a new nonprofit? We want to hear it!

“…because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.” – Steve Jobs

When we as Christians see the needs of our city, we have a choice – engage or ignore? Do something or not? Get overwhelmed by the need, or commit it to prayer and respond?

We at Hope for New York know that the realities of poverty and need are great in New York City, but we also know that we serve a big God, who created all things, and who cares and is mindful of his creation. Given this example we have in the God that we love and serve, we at Hope for New York desire to see and pray for those in our community to want to pray, act, and respond to the needs of our city.

We are partnering with Redeemer’s Center for Faith and Work (CFW) to identify and resource new ideas for Gospel-centered non-profit ventures. We want to make sure that people with great ideas for bringing renewal and restoration to our city have the resources they need to get off the ground!

Since we've been working with CFW’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Ei) program, we’ve seen 7 ideas become nonprofit affiliates: Restore NYC, Open Hands Legal Services, A House on Beekman, The Father’s Heart/Alphabet Scoop, The Open Door, Center for All Abilities, and Brooklyn Jubilee.

Each of these ideas started out by people who saw a need, felt called to respond, and “were crazy enough to think they can change the world."

We’re looking for some other people who have a "crazy idea" – an idea that would provide a Gospel-response respond to the needs of the poor and marginalized in New York City. An idea that would bring about flourishing and shalom to our city.

If you have an idea, CFW's Pitch Night on April 28 is a great place to start. Applications are open now through March 31. Learn more and apply through CFW's website.
