Serve Immigrant Families by Tutoring Children Virtually

About this Opportunity

Invest in the lives of immigrant families by supporting children with homework and skills development.

Each tutor has the opportunity to invest in the life of a student, building confidence by helping them with homework, academic skills, and affirming their gifts. Tutors will meet virtually with students one or two times each week for an hour and fifteen minutes each session. Tutoring sessions are M – Th from 5:00 – 6:15 PM. We ask our virtual volunteers to not wear sleeveless shirts as a way to respect our students who adhere to Muslim norms of modesty.

The most effective tutors bring energy and flexibility to each tutoring opportunity and have a desire to expand their cultural competencies. Basic video conference skills, hardware with the ability to record via zoom, and willingness to upload tutoring sessions to DropBox are required.

There will be orientation and training for our volunteers to get to know our students and the online platforms that we use. Tutors report to Volunteer Coordinators who provide support during tutoring for teaching questions that arise.
