How do we choose the toys for His Toy Store, anyway?

November 17, 2014

Every year, our staff turn into Santa's elves as we plan for His Toy Store, our annual outreach to families in need.

When you give this month to help us stock our His Toy Store shelves, you're giving toward purchasing high-quality and brand-new toys for these families.

Here's a look at how we decide what toys to purchase:

  1. We check our "Hot or Not" lists from the previous year's stores (compiled by our awesome volunteers), which tell us what toys were really popular at each store, and what we'll want to make sure we order more of this year.
  2. We also scour the top Christmas toy lists to make sure we get what we think will be the "it" toys this year. Although some toys, like anything related to Dora and Spiderman. are always in!
  3. Each of our affiliate partners also has preferences based on the families they're inviting. For instance, our friends at Operation Exodus know their kids love soccer balls. This helps us ensure that we're providing toys that these families will really get excited about.

We really enjoy the privilege of making sure each parent will have a great selection of new toys to choose from as they think about their kids. We hope you'll pray with us over these toys, asking God to use them to bring joy and hope to the kids that receive them this Christmas! And if you haven't given yet to help us stock our stores... you've got 'til Nov. 30 to bring hope to some amazing families this Christmas.
