Pilot Volunteer Programs

Join Community Outreach Serving the Chelsea-Elliot Houses

Saturday 10:15 AM - 12:00 PM

The New York Dream Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that exists to serve New Yorkers right where they are to where they dream to be. Their goal is to meet the needs of underserved communities through neighborhood programs of Adopt-A-Block, Residential Assistance, and Restore.

Adopt-A-Block (AAB) is a program providing free block parties and community markets to local residents. Based in the Chelsea-Elliot Houses, a combined government housing project, AAB allows us to serve those struggling to make ends meet. Tucked away in the otherwise affluent neighborhood of Chelsea, these people are not highly visible and become easily forgotten in such a large city. AAB allows the community to be treated with dignity and respect as we meet their tangible needs of food, clothes, and household items.

Volunteers will distribute donated goods to community attendees, and sit and speak or pray with members of the Chelsea-Elliot community during the outreach. Short orientation provided day-of.

*Volunteer opportunities are for individuals of all ages. All individuals under 13 should have a parent or guardian present.

HFNY pilot volunteer programs are part of an assessment to confirm possible affiliation with organizations.
